Cigar humidors are an absolute must for cigar enthusiasts. A humidor will preserve your cigars by maintaining a humid environment for them, allowing you to save your very best cigars until the right occasion comes along.

Cigars which are left out in the open air will dry, and the enticing aromas that you ultimately bought your cigar for will be spoiled. It is advised that you do not put half-smoked cigars back into a humidor, as this can produce rather unpleasant odours.

Cigar stores have walk-in full room humidors, and cabinet humidors are able to hold up to an incredible 5000 cigars! It’s likely you won’t need near enough this amount of space, so a personal or travel size humidor will probably suffice for your collection.

Personal and travel cigar humidors range in size, from small ones that can hold up to 20 cigars, to deluxe versions which hold well over 500. The temperature of all cigar humidors must remain below 25 °C, as high temperatures can cause cigars to rot and potentially cause tobacco beetle eggs to hatch.

As their name suggests, tobacco beetles lay their eggs in tobacco, and keeping cigars in optimal beetle hatching conditions by improper use of a humidor can lead to some very unwanted guests spoiling your prized collection!

Some cigar humidors come with a hygrometer, which allows you to monitor the moisture content within. The optimal humidity percentage within a cigar humidor is anything below 75%.

Traditionally, cigar humidors are made with cedar bark. This particular type of wood is able to hold more moisture and is less prone to the effects of warping than other wood types. Often, cedar can also impart a pleasant aroma to cigars which have been aged within a humidor.
